Two bikers die in weekend accidents

Rescue Care paramedics attended two fatal biking accidents at the weekend.

TWO motorcyclists were killed in two separate accidents on the M7 at the weekend.

The first accident took place on Friday at about 3.30pm on the M7 east-bound before the Bellville Road off-ramp. According to Garrith Jamieson, the operations director for Rescue Care, paramedics arrived on the scene and found the biker was in a critical condition on the road. “Advanced life support paramedics placed the biker on a manual ventilator and worked for close to an hour to try and stabilise the critically-injured woman,” said Jamieson.

She was then rushed to a nearby hospital. The motorbike rider later died in hospital.

Another motorbike driver was killed on the M7 highway in Queensburgh on Sunday, 21 February just after 4pm.

“On arrival, paramedics found the critically-injured man lying in the median,” said Jamieson. The man had no pulse and advanced life support paramedics tried to resuscitate the man for more than half an hour. They were not successful and the man died.”

The cause of both collisions are not yet known and the local SAPS will be investigating.
