Westville man succumbs to gunshot wounds

Pierre Van Schalkwyk was shot two weeks ago during a home invasion.

A WESTVILLE man who was shot by robbers on Sunday, 31 January passed away in hospital on Monday, 15 February.

Pierre Van Schalkwyk was a victim of another home invasion in the Westville area.

Van Schalkwyk was awoken by barking and growling dogs and took his firearm with to investigate.
He saw two men inside the kitchen and shouted at them, telling them to get out of his house.
The two men shot Van Schalkwyk twice and he was taken to hospital.
No one has been arrested and Westville detectives are working around the clock to ensure the suspects are arrested.
