Donation boosts education at Fulton

The Lions Club of Gillitts donated R10 000 to Fulton School for the Deaf.

THE Lions Club of Gillitts donated R10 000 to the Fulton School for the Deaf, enough money to cover the school fees of a child for an entire year.

“This will assist our indigent children who need a specialised education that we provide at the Fulton School for the Deaf. We have many children whose families simply can’t afford school fees and many of the children don’t live in the area, and this makes schooling for them that much more expensive. We are just so excited to have organisations like the Lions Club of Gillitts helping us in this way,” said Beryl Campbell, principal at Fulton School for the Deaf.

Andrew Palmer, the head of the Lions Club of Gillitts, said they chose the school as the club works to enrich the community they live and work in and Fulton School for the Deaf is only a block away from its clubhouse. He encouraged others that wished to make a donation to the school or sponsor a pupil at the school to contact 031 767 1215.

The Lions Club of Gillitts meet every second Monday at the Gillitts Town Hall at 7pm. “The club is not just about serving the community and giving of our time to help those that need it, it is also about friendship and fun while giving back to others,” said Andrew. If you are interested in viewing the club or becoming a member, contact Andrew Palmer on 083 537 7878.
