Buthelezi ensures change at Pinetown SAPS

The Commander brings with him a great deal of experience that he has accumulated over the years in the police force.

PINETOWN SAPS has welcome the appointment of Col Mhlabunzima Ronald Buthelezi as the new branch commander (head of detectives).

Buthelezi, who is no stranger to police work, said he was very honoured to be trusted with such a huge responsibility.

He joined the organisation in 1989 and went to Hammanskraal Police College in 1990, where he completed police basic training. In 1991 he was assigned to the Eastrand Murder and Robbery Unit as an investigator of serious and violence crime cases.

In 1992 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and transferred to Brakpan as the community service centre official.

Buthelezi said it was always his wish to be a police officer. “I like digging information and solving problems,” he explained.

In 1996, Buthelezi was promoted from Sergeant to Warrant Officer and transferred to Eshowe Police Station, and in 1999 was appointed as acting branch commander of Eshowe SAPS.

In 2000 he was promoted to Captain and was appointed as the branch commander, and in 2005 was again promoted to the rank of Superintendent.

“Pinetown SAPS is a different atmosphere from the places I am used to; as a detective commander, I will ensure that effective investigation is done by members under my supervision in order to improve service delivery.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to the staff and the station commander of Pinetown. They have made me feel very welcome at the station,” he said.
