Police to host fundraising ball

Malvern police station will host a not-to-be-missed fundraising glamour ball.

THE police at Malvern are looking for more counsellors from the Malvern area to add to their trauma and counselling centres. Interested parties must have some form of training and qualification in counselling and debriefing.

The SAPS has victim empowerment centres in most stations that have counsellors available to counsel people. The Malvern police station has one such centre for treating victims of abuse, problems that arise from dysfunctional families, people suffering from drug dependency and substance abuse, victims of crimes such as hijackings, house robberies, business robberies and domestic violence.

People in need of such services are are counselled at the Malvern Crisis Care Centre and are given a helping hand or channel them to the correct organisation for assistance.

To ensure that these services are fully functional, the Malvern CPF will host a Grand My Fair Lady Costume Ball on Friday, 6 November at Westpark School Hall. The glamour event will start at 6pm for 6.30pm and will help raise funds for the Victim Empowerment Centre at the police station.

Tickets are R150 each. Expect live entertainment by the SAPS dance band, lucky draws, classic prizes, a disco and a grand buffet. Dress code: ride in like the highwayman or waltz in with Gone with the Wind style; capture hearts like princess grace or float in in black lace. Contact W/O Marimuthu on 031 489 9630.
