Teenage boy shot multiple times

Mdu's body was found half decomposed in a sugar cane field.

THE Mkhize family is appealing to anyone who may help them find the person who killed their teenage son, Mduduzi Mkhize.

Mduduzi’s body was found by a security guard on Thursday, 23 July in a sugar cane field near Shongweni Enviroserve. His mother, Doris Mkhize, said Mdu was last seen on Monday, 13 July (during the school holidays).

“Mdu spent most of his time rehearsing with his traditional music group. I got worried when days went by and he never returned home.

“I went to his friend’s house and I was told that my son was last seen going to KwaNdengezi to fetch a friend’s phone. We searched everywhere – hospitals and mortuaries – with no luck.”

Doris said they only found their son after an article that appeared in the Highway Mail on Friday, 28 August about a decomposed body found in a sugar cane field.

“His murder still disturbs me as I can not get answers as to why he was murdered. My son was only 17 and still in school, and he was brutally murdered. He had numerous gunshots all over his body,” she said.

Investigating officer, D/W/O Bongani Ngcobo, said the body was found partially decomposed. He said it is alleged that he was killed elsewhere and dumped in the sugar cane field near Shongweni Enviroserve.

Anyone who can assist with information can contact D/W/O Ngcobo on 031 704 8810/04, or 079 696 3472, or 073 339 2568.

Mdu was buried on Saturday, 12 September.
