Malvern Children’s Home carnival raises funds and hope

The Malvern Children's Home held a fundraiser carnival to raise much-needed funds.

The Malvern Children’s Home hosted its annual carnival fundraising event on Saturday, 1 August. The community was invited to join in on the fun and make a difference in a child’s life through various donations.

This year, the home pulled out all the stops to make the carnival an unforgettable experience for everyone. There was a tombola stall, a vintage car display, karate demonstration, face painters and two jumping castles.

On the entertainment side, some of the children gave a surprise performance and there was a vibrant dance by Durban duo, Statik. Supporters came in for brunch and others for lunch, satisfying their taste buds from the food stalls that were available, with food ranging from lamb-on-the-spit rolls to curries and cakes.

The management team, staff and caregivers thanked everybody who attended on Saturday for their generous donations. The Malvern Children’s Home is a place of safety and for many of its 120 children, the only real home they will ever know.

But, like most children’s homes, it is also under threat because of the growing needs and lack of funding. Donations or assistance of any kind for the home is greatly appreciated. Contact Naomi at naomi.oosthuysen@malvernchildrenshome.co.za or call 031 464 0236.
