Fuel tanker blaze closes N2 highway

A diesel and petrol tanker have crashed on the N2 causing a massive fire to spread across the highway.

KZN Emergency Medical Services paramedics and emergency services are currently at the scene of a major incident in the N2 near NPC at the Sarnia road overhead bridge, in Durban.

A diesel tanker and a petrol tanker have reportedly crashed, resulting in a fuel spill which has caught alight, resulting in a massive fire, which is running down the highway. The KZN EMS paramedics on scene have reported that the two people are being treated for minor injuries. EThekwini fire and rescue fighters are busy trying to control the blaze, which has spread to both sides of the highway.

The highway has been closed to traffic, with traffic being diverted at the M7 south bound and M1 north bound.

The police will investigate the cause of the crash.
