Pinetown injured man kills robber in shootout

Police are looking for three men who robbed a house in Caversham.

AN alleged robber was killed and a victim wounded in Caversham, Pinetown on Tuesday night.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Cst Phindile Radebe, said four men entered a house in Caversham and ordered two siblings, 36 and 34, to lie down.

“They removed jewellery, two plasma television screens, a laptop and three cellphones. One of the siblings managed to grab his gun and opened fire at the robbers.”

Radebe said the robbers returned fire, wounding the victim.

One of the men was killed in the shootout and three fled the scene unharmed. “The victim was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition,” she said.

A case of armed robbery, attempted murder and an inquest docket were opened at Pinetown police station for investigation. The other three men are still being sought by the police.

“Police will leave no stone unturned in order to arrest the outstanding robbers.”
