Join global satellite search for missing SA yachtsmen

Join the world-wide search operation for SA's missing yachtsmen, Anthony Murray, Reg Robertson and Jaryd Payne.

A GLOBAL satellite search has been launched on the website, Tomnod, to help assist in the search for missing SA yachtsmen, Anthony Murray, Reg Robertson and Jaryd Payne.

Tomnod is a platform that uses thousands of volunteers to search through satellite images, supplied by DigitalGlobe.

According to the introduction on the search portal, the aim of the volunteer online search website is to explore earth and help solve real-world problems.

Each volunteer’s task is to explore the satellite images provided and tag them if anything is spotted.

Although there has been no new news in terms of establishing the safety and whereabouts of missing yachtsmen, Reg Robertson, Anthony Murray and Jaryd Payne, the family of Murray said they are grateful for the support they have received online and from the media.

Murray, who grew up in Cowies Hill and is currently based in Cape Town, is the stepson of the late Dr Walter Savage, a well-known Westville and Pinetown GP who died in 2005.

Murray, Robertson and Payne were en route to deliver a catamaran to Thailand, but family members grew concerned when the boat did not arrive 10 days after its expected date of arrival, 2 February.

It is now a month overdue.
