URGENT NOTICE: Qashana Khuzwayo Road closed for three months

Northbound and southbound traffic on Qashana Khuzwayo Road (Shepstone Road) will be diverted along Blase Road, Chelsea Avenue and Escom Road from Monday, 26 January for three months.

GO!Durban’s planned road deviation along Qashana Khuzwayo Road (Shepstone Road) at the intersection of Escom Road and Blase Road in Pinetown will commence on Monday, 26 January.

According to Sharlene Versveld, the media spokesman for the Go!Durban project, the initiative aims to provide a more efficient, safer and faster public transport service for the citizens of the City.

“eThekwini Municipality is currently constructing a section of the Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network (IRPTN) through Pinetown and New Germany. This requires that from Monday, 26 January, northbound and southbound traffic on Qashana Khuzwayo Road (Shepstone Road) will be diverted along Blase Road, Chelsea Avenue and Escom Road. Access to the shops and businesses on Qashana Khuzwayo will be from Regent Street,” said Versveld.

This deviation was originally scheduled to take place on Monday, 19 January but was postponed, and will now take place on Monday, 26 January. It is anticipated that the detour will be in operation for approximately three months.

eThekwini Municipality apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
