Another postponement for Sanele May

May will appear in court again on Friday 24 October.

SANELE May will remain in police custody after his plea bargain was once again postponed to Wednesday 24 October.

May, the driver of the truck that ploughed through five vehicles and killed two dozen people at the base of Field’s Hill last year, faces 24 counts of culpable homicide.

He appeared briefly at the Durban High Court this morning (10 October) where state attorney, Alistair Walters, asked that the case be adjourned until Friday 24 October as the state was “not in a position” to finalise the plea. He noted that it would be completed by Monday or Tuesday next week.

May’s defence attorney, Louis Barnard, said the new date was agreeable. Judge Gregory Kruger concurred and informed May that he would remain in police custody until the agreed upon date.
