CHILDREN from Embo Child Educare were in for a treat when the creche was chosen as the charity to receive sponsorship from Key Motors.

Key Motors presented a cheque for R18 500 to the crèche and spoiled the children with lunch and snacks.

The donation was made under the auspices of the Key Cares Foundation, which was launched in 2006.

Key Cares Foundation chairman, Dale Southern, said each director at Key is tasked with nominating a personal charity or beneficiary organisation.

“The charity organisation had to be meaningful to the director and his/her team members, as well as being relevant to the community,” he said.

The crèche, which looks after the Embo valley children, was started by Eunice Ncube who saw a need for a creche in the area.

Eunice said some of the children were orphans from child-headed families, others were cared for by grandparents and some were the children of teen mothers.

The creche is also supported by Twinkle Star Foundation which built a proper building for the children as they were initially housed in a church.

Founder of the foundation, Carol Schroeder, said Ncube’s work really touched her. Some of the children are unable to pay fees.”Ncube does this for the love of children and she cares about her community,” said Schroeder.

Parts and operation director, Gary Dennissen, who chose the charity said this was his first time being involved in the foundation.

“I had three choices but the Embo Child Educare stole my heart as I also have two little boys. “I believe in investing in the younger ones as they are the future of this country.

“The work that Ncube and her staff do to take care of the children for next to nothing is phenomenal,” said Dennissen.

He added that he would visit the creche regularly to monitor its progress.

“I want to be involved, I do not want to be just a sponsor,” he said.
