Robin Hood Foundation opens Uminathi Creche

The Robin Hood Foundation was able to help build a new centre for Uminatho Creche in Mariannhill.

THANKS to the Robin Hood Foundation and their generous sponsors and volunteers, 5 August 2014 will be a day that the Uminathi Crèche in rural Mariannhill will never forget.

These were the words of headmistress, Zanele Shange, as she helped founder and chairman of the Robin Hood Foundation, Cindy Norcott, cut the ribbon at the opening of their brand new, quality 64 square metre structure, including hygienic ablution facility, kitchenette and store room facility.

“The children can now attend school in a safe, warm and stimulating environment – something we only ever dreamt of. This has all been made possible by Elangeni Buildings, Dezzo Roofing, ARB Electrical, The Key Foundation, Business Connexion, Fotakis Brothers, Eire Contractors, Sodexo, Debonairs, Galeforce Marketing, Campbells Cargo and the Grade 7 St Mary’s DSG pupils, to name a few,” said Shange who, along with parents, volunteers, community leaders and sponsors, were astounded by what had been achieved in nine weeks, since breaking the ground.

“Our vision was to create a pre-school experience which would set these little ones on the right path for future learning. They have table and chair sets, stationery, toys and learning materials to use. We still have a list of requirements for the crèche but we are blown away by the generosity of businesses and individuals,” explained Norcott.

She thanked those who contributed to the ‘Buy A Brick’ campaign and those who donated so many items needed to fulfil their vision for this special crèche.
