Robbers on the prowl in Waterfall

Shongweni K9 Unit urges residents to report suspicious activities and people to the police.

SOUTH African Community Crime Watch reported two house breakings in the Waterfall/Crestholme area recently.

According to Steven King of SA Community Crime Watch, the first incident happened in Brackenhill Road on Monday.

It is believed two laptops, an MP3 player and assorted jewellery were stolen. A case of house robbery has been opened at the Hillcrest SAPS.

The second incident occurred at Jean Howes Road in Crestholme at 9.15am today (Tuesday 19 August).

The robbers gained entry into the home via the bedroom window. The domestic worker spotted one robber and immediately ran out the house.

She screamed for help and that’s when the Shongweni K9 Unit was notified. Sgt Ashraf Mohamed of the Shongweni K9 Unit said they received a call about the robbers in the home, however upon arrival and searching the premises, the robbers were long gone.

“Luckily no items were stolen and no arrests have been made. We are urging all residents to be wary of who frequents their community and report all suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or local crime watch,” said Mohamed.
