Jes Foord Foundation robbed

The JFF received a blow when their premises were ransacked.

On Sunday, 17 August at around 12.30am, The Jes Foord Foundation storage units in Abbott Francis Road, Mariannhill were ransacked.

The perpetrators cut a big hole in the fence and held up the security guard, tied him up and covered him with wooden pallets. They then proceeded to rob and ransack the place.

Blue Security managing director, Henk van Bemmelen said, “The armed robbers, one armed with a knife and two armed with hammers, allegedly held up the security guard at the foundation’s premises.

“They tied him up with shoe laces and covered him with timber before breaking down the panels of the organisation’s park home containers.

They ripped the alarm system off the wall, ransacked the premises and loaded furniture and other stolen items into their awaiting vehicles before fleeing the scene.”

Blue Security reaction officers and SAPS arrested the three armed robbers responsible for the crime just after 4.30am this morning.

“Our officers went beyond the call of duty to assist the Mariannhill police in tracking down and arresting all three alleged robbers,” said Van Bemmelen.

“Fortunately the gang was not quick enough for our team of officers and the police who arrested them, recovered the stolen goods and impounded their two vehicles,” Van Bemmelen said.

Van Bemmelen said it was “despicable” that criminals would target an organisation that was working selflessly to assist victims of crime.

“We trust that this latest success sends a strong message to criminals that local security companies are serious about fighting crime and partnering with the police to ensure that criminals are brought to book so that our communities can feel safe again.”
