AN elderly woman is recovering emotionally and physically after she was brutally attacked and stabbed at her home in a residential complex on Dunrobin Lane in Botha’s Hill on Friday, 16 May, at approximately 7.30am.

This is the latest incident involving a string of violent attacks and house robberies in Botha’s Hill.

According to Steven King, of SecureLink and Waterfall Crime Watch, the woman was reportedly stabbed in the face and in the head by one assailant. “She was in critical condition in the ICU after her husband reportedly drove her to the hospital. She has now been discharged,” said King.

After stabbing the woman the man stole her handbag and a laptop, and fled the scene. It is suspected that the attacker entered the complex by crawling underneath the electric fence.

Lt France Mkhize, of the Hillcrest SAPS, could not confirm this allegation. “At this point we have not been able to get a statement from the victim, as she has been in a critical condition. It is unclear how he entered the complex. Reports seem to indicate that the suspect just walked into the victim’s home through the front door, which was left open,” said Mkhize.

King reported that it is suspected that the incident is linked to the house robberies committed in Old Main Road and Mkhize Road earlier in the week.

At this stage only a case of house robbery has been opened at the Hillcrest SAPS.
