No developments planned for Stockville Road

There are no plans for development along Stockville Road.

DESPITE the rumours going around, there are no plans for development in the Stockville area.

After numerous assessments it was determined by the municipality two years ago that because of the topology of the area it was not financially feasible to build RDP houses in the Stockville area.

“These rumours go around every election cycle and the people spreading them should be ashamed of themselves because they are giving desperate people false hope. They are lying to people to get their vote. I think the people in Stockville know my word is good, I do not lie to them or anyone especially just to get a vote, and I am telling them there are no housing developments planned for Stockville,” said Ward Councillor Rick Crouch.

Not only is the cost prohibitive but more than 90 per cent of the Stockville area is classified as D’moss by the municipality which means that it is environmentally sensitive and any development on D’moss designated land is prohibited.

“I urge the residents in Stockville to cast their minds back to every election cycle when these same promises were made and look around them now, have any of these promises come to fruition?” said Ward Councillor Rick Crouch.
