Watch: Squirrel shows leopard who’s the boss
It’s not a game of cat and mouse… It’s cat versus squirrel.
A squirrel pulled out all the stops to fox a leopard, giving it a full workout while ensuring it didn’t get any lunch.
Piet van Wyk, the head ranger at MalaMala Private Game Reserve, shared his footage and story with Latest Sightings.
Van Wyk was on safari when he spotted the daughter of a well-known leopardess in a tree, but he didn’t spot the squirrel that would soon be annoying her.
They hadn’t been at the sighting long when something caught the curious cat’s attention.
Instead of making a dash for it, the squirrel wanted to have some fun. And so the games began – with the leopard leaping up and down the tree trying to catch the speedy squirrel.
The squirrel then darted to safety, despite the luckless leopard being hot on its heels.
