Classic car spectacular at Zwartkops Raceway

This year the 39th running of Cars in the Park will be hosted at Zwartkops Raceway, situated in the west of Pretoria.

The first Cars in the Park event, which took place nearly 40 years ago merely, had 15 cars being displayed. Now though the annual event attracts hundreds of cars each year and even more motoring enthusiasts. The 2019 edition of the event will take place on Sunday, 4 August at Zwarktkops Raceway; the gates will be open to classic and collectable cars at 6:00 while spectators will gain access from 8:00.

“We encourage owners who are exhibiting their classic cars to arrive as early as possible. The gates for classic cars will be open from 6 am while paying spectators will be allowed access from 8 am,” Frik Kraamwinkel, chief organiser, Pretoria Old Motor Club.

This year will not only see extremely rare classic cars such as the 1903 Peugeot, believed to be one of just four in the world, but also some special modern cars like the 2019 Ford Mustang, Bullitt version, displayed by Lazerus Ford of Centurion. The modern iteration Mustang received stylistic enhancements and the signature green body paint to resemble the 1968 Mustang 390 GT driven by Steve McQueen during one of the most famous car chases in cinematic history.

There will be dozens of stalls selling refreshments, food and memorabilia amongst all the classic vehicles. Admission to Cars in the Park will cost R100 for adults and children under 12 will gain entrance free.
