Ferrari F8 Tributo makes South African debut

The Ferrari F8 Tributo first revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019 made its local appearance at the official Ferrari dealer, Scuderia South Africa Johannesburg.

Since 2016, Ferrari has won “Best Engine” in the International Engine of the Year awards consecutively for three years and also received the title of the best engine of the last two decades in 2018. In celebration of these successes, Ferrari engineered the F8 Tributo which comes with the most powerful V8 engine Ferrari has ever developed.

A Ferrari Styling Centre design, the F8 sees a 10% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency which makes it the most aerodynamically efficient mid-rear-engined production car ever to leave the factory in Maranello. The 488 GTB replacement sees a 37 kW increase to produce 530 kW and 770 N.m of torque while being 40 kg lighter than its predecessor.

While the improved aerodynamics keeps the Ferrari planted in the corners, drivers can also let the rear end drift in a controllable manner with the latest 6.1 version of Side Slip Angle Control installed.

“We are delighted to introduce the latest multi-award-winning Ferrari V8 Turbo engined model to the Prancing Horse family. The F8 Tributo with all its unique characteristics unquestionably sets the market benchmark for exhilarating performance, ease of handling and of course, driving a pleasure.” Mervyn Eagles, CEO Scuderia South Africa.

As part of the local celebration of the new model, Scuderia South Africa has partnered with the Anne Van Dyk Cheetah Centre and adopted a Cheetah named Tributo.

“An African cheetah, officially named Tributo has been adopted by Scuderia South Africa to celebrate a likeness of beauty, performance, agility and of course, speed. Both the F8 Tributo and our cheetah, boast strong aesthetics, handle corners with precision and both can reach speeds of 0-100km/h in just under 3 seconds. As the official Ferrari dealer in South Africa, we are proud to support and endorse the conservation of these rare and glorious creatures.” Mervyn Eagles, CEO Scuderia South Africa.

While Tributo the Cheetah remain at the Anne Van Dyk Cheetah Centre, the Ferrari F8 Tributo will be travelling South Africa, with a reveals planned in Durban and Cape Town later this month.
