Cinisela Art Productions hosts auditions for dramatic art actors at the Wesselton Community Hall

Winners of the best play will be announced at the drama festival on 15 September.

Dramatic art performers from around Msukaligwa have been auditioning at various venues in front of the Cinisela Arts Production (CAP) judges to obtain a spot for their plays in the drama festival that will take place in September.

Auditions kicked off in Breyten, Sheepmoor, Warburton and Davel on 14 July as the CAP crew went in search of raw acting talent.

The weekend of 21 July saw the crew visiting Ermelo, Chrisssiesmeer and Lothair, with actors coming in large numbers to showcase their plays.

The judges will choose nine groups from around the towns and will receive a professional mentoring class in August during which they will develop their stage productions for the festival.

The winners of the best play will also be announced at the festival with cash prizes to be won.

The Izifuba Arts Group presents their play, “Amagqubu”, at the Cinisela Art Productions auditions that took place at the Wesselton Community Hall on Saturday, 21 July.

Prizes include R10 000 for best production. The second placed team will walk away with R5 000, while third place will win R2 500.

Individual prizes are also on offer and the best actor, actress and director will receive R500 each.

CAP is a non-profit organisation that is based in Breyten and aims at developing dramatic arts performers, especially the youth, by nurturing their talent in performance as well as script writing.

CAP is currently in the process of introducing theatre in the region with funding from the National Lotteries Commission and their mandate is to identify, develop and expose art talent.

They will host the first drama festival on 15 September.
