Overweight? 10 tips to beat obesity once and for all

Change is possible, it’s up to you.

WINTER time usually means ‘more eating and drinking’ but now with spring approaching, it’s to get fit and ‘unfat’.

If you’ve struggled with obesity and want to lose weight, here are some tips, written in an article by Michael Jakorsy in the Sydney Morning Herald, a few years ago.

1. Be honest: Admit to yourself that it’s an issue and get help.

2. Stop waiting: Swallowing pills shouldn’t be the quick-fix option. Change your habits in the kitchen and get to the gym.

3. Build strength: All of us should able to do 20 push-ups, because more muscle means less fat.

4. Get cardio fit: You shouldn’t struggle to reach the top of the stairs.

5. Invest in your health: See the eating of organic meats, leafy greens and fresh fruits as an investment in health and preventing sickness.

6. Think about the benefits: Being fit for sex is fun, so choose a naughty cuddle over cake.

7. Be patient: Losing five kilograms in a month can be done.

8. Think: What you put in your mouth is either helping you, or helping kill you.

9. Take the time, and make the time: Life won’t stop if you’re not in the office for an hour while exercising. Life does stop when you’re in the hospital due to obesity-related disease.

10. Get serious: Joking at work on Monday morning about a beer belly is cliché.
