Kina Samuels introduces world of dance to Ermelo with her Jive Pros Studio

From as young as five years old, Ms Kina Samuel had a passion for dance.

Growing up with her siblings and raised by her mother, she never had the opportunity to take lessons, but her passion never faded.

Originally from Pietermaritzburg, she has made Ermelo her home and is known in business circles with a few of her own.

“A friend predicted that I will have a place of healing,” she said.

“I never thought it will be a dance studio.”

It all began when Ms Kina decided that she will perform a dance instead of giving a speech at her son’s 30th birthday celebrations.

“Dance speaks louder than words,” she also said.

The decision was made then and there to be a dance instructor with the vision of offering private lessons.

With the help of her niece, who is currently one of South Africa’s dancing champions, she learned many techniques.

This led to her being introduced to a dancing professional, Mr Happy Seitlhamo.

Together they decided to open a studio called Jive Pros right here in town.

“It was a dream come true.”

Her love for children is her motivation as well as her passion for dancing.

The studio is non-profitable and with the funds she gets, she offers her students the best dance instructor.

“Though some months are hard and we barely make ends meet, I am determined not to let my dancers down.”

She is currently studying to become a dance instructor herself.

Through the studio, people of all ages are given the opportunity to develop and practise their dancing skills.

She is working towards taking children in Ermelo off the streets with the help of sponsors.

“I want to give these children a chance to a better life, a life off the streets.”
