5 ways we can learn from how Millennials work

Gen Y workers often get a bad rep for appearing to be a little entitled but here’s how we can all learn from their work ethic.

Millennials are known to work vastly differently from their previous generational counterparts. Although these workers are often shunned for being lazy, too casual or feeling entitled, there are a few ways we can learn from how they work. Here are five:

Learn to experiment

Working productively and efficiently requires some level of experimentation. There are so many different ways of doing one thing, what counts is the most efficient way for you.

Embrace technology

Technology is there to make our lives easier so there is no reason why anyone should be working longer hours than people who had less technology decades ago. Millennials are not afraid of incorporating technology into their everyday work process and it helps productivity.

Work smart

Manage your time effectively and you will have more time to do things that you really want like take holidays and spend time with your loved ones. Millennials often spend less time working because they work smart and not according to an archaic schedule.

Focus on self

Millennials are often seen as self-centered but this can also be a positive trait. Focus on getting your tasks done timeously and moving on to the next task with favourable results.

Learn from failure

There is no success without failure and recognising that will get you far in any working environment. See failure as a lesson learned and key part of success.
