Prince dies at age 57
Tributes have been pouring in all over social media after news that legendary singer Prince died at his home at age 57.
Musical genius and legendary performer, singer, instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Prince was found dead at his home on Thursday, 21 April.
His publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said: “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.”
US media reported that police were called to a medical emergency at his Paisley Park estate earlier on Thursday and an investigation is under way.
Noel-Shure also added: “There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
The superstar, who was still performing up until last week, was taken to hospital but was discharged.
Prince became a global superstar in the 1980s, with albums such as 1999, Purple Rain and Sign O’ the Times.
His innovative sound spanned across genres with influences of rock, funk and jazz. He sold more than 100 million records during his career and was inducted in the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame.
