Ermelo athletes shine at Emalahleni City Marathon

Despite the adverse weather, the athletes found joy in the experience, highlighting the passion that drives long-distance runners

Four athletes of the Ermelo Athletic Club participated in the challenging eMalahleni City Marathon, completing the gruelling 42.2km in tough conditions.

Zelda Keyser achieved an impressive qualification time of 04:30 for the 2025 Comrades Marathon.

Andries Koekemoer and Cicile Erasmus crossed the finish line together in 04:53, while Frik Henning completed the race in 05:02.

The marathon route featured an elevation gain of 591m and was further complicated by strong winds and rain, with temperatures dropping to about 5°C.

Despite the adverse weather, the athletes found joy in the experience, highlighting the passion that drives long-distance runners.

“Every challenge builds you up,” noted Koekemoer, adding: “All glory goes to our Heavenly Father.”
