Ermelo East Farmers Association hosts first Highveld Bass fishing competition

Togomashi was the winning team for the day. They weighed in a total Bass weight of 11.56kg.

Ermelo East Farmers Association recently hosted their first Highveld Bass fishing competition.

The day was successful with 30 teams competing for the grand prize of R20 000 for the highest total weight of bass caught.

This grand prize loured 120 anglers to catch as many as they can in three spectacular farm dams in the Ermelo East area.

The competition was based on a rotation schedule between the three dams.

Dirk Bothma caught the largest fish, a 1.5kg bass and won a cash prize of R5 000.

Team Togomashi showed their appreciation to the farming community by donating R4 000 of the prize money to the Ermelo East Farmers Association.

“Thank you to all the sponsors including TWK, Pioneer Seeds, John Deere, InteliGro, JJ Fishing & Tackle, BKB van Wyk and Agri Benodighede,” said Mr Lion du Plessis, chairman of the Farmers Association.
