VOC and Sun City Gunners register wins and Ermelo United’s woes continue in SAB Soccer League

After the weekend, Manzana FC are in at the top of the log with 38 points and Ermelo United languish at the bottom with five points.

Another edition of the SAB Soccer League in the Gert Sibande Stream B took place at various stadiums around the district this past weekend of 26 January.

In catch up matches, Breyten Home Sweepers got the better of Hammers FC, beating them 3-1, while Passion FC won 4-2 against Breyten United. Those matches took place on Saturday, 26 January.

All local teams had to endure away games as they threaded on unfamiliar territory on Sunday, 27 January.

The only local team in the top half of the table, VOC United, faced Mpumalanga Eagles FC at their new home ground, KwaDela Stadium, in Davel.

VOC were once again triumphant, defeating the Davel outfit 2-1 at a packed stadium.

Sun City Gunners finally registered a win and three points, after beating Typhoon FC 1-0.

Ermelo United’s woes continued as they had to forfeit a match and three points against Flymingo FC after arriving late at the stadium.

Mafia FC’s match against PR Barcelona was postponed due to the players from the Barcelona side still recovering from an accident.

In other matches, log leaders, Manzana FC, ran rampant against Breyten United, putting five goals past the Breyten goalkeeper. The match ended on 5-0.

The match of the weekend has to be the Shooters FC versus Breyten Home Sweepers match which ended 5-4 to the Shooters team.

Passion FC won 3-1 against Blackstone and Hammers FC and XI Experience had to make do with a 1-1 draw.

Defending champions, Somhlolo FC, are on the up after a horrible start to the season. The Somhlolo side defeated Losta Stars 2-1.

The next round of matches will take place at various stadiums around the district on the weekend of 2 February.
