Three top teams in GS Volleyball League off to Mbombela

The Flamingos girl’s volleyball team are the only local outfit showing in this year’s league and the girls are holding their own by defeating most of the competition.

The fourth round of the Gert Sibande Volleyball League took place at the Ermelo Sports Inn on Saturday, 10 November.

All seven teams played a total of six matches on the day, in what was a grueling volleyball weekend.

The Flamingos girl’s volleyball team are the only local outfit showing in this year’s league, and the girls are holding their own by defeating most of the competition.

The locals won five of their six matches, only succumbing to a defeat at the hands of log leaders, Oshoek Volleyball Club.

After the weekend the Oshoek Volleyball Club tops the girl’s leader board on 39 points.

Tecnotix from Standerton follows at second place with 36 points and Ermelo’s Flamingos round off the top three on 33 points in the women’s league.

In the men’s league, Oshoek Volleyball Club once again dominated all the other teams, winning all their matches.

There is no local team in the men’s league with only Breyten Shooters flying the Msukaligwa flag.After the weekend Tecnotix from Standerton top the log standings on 42 points.

Oshoek Volleyball Club follows on 36 points and Breyten Shooter is in the third spot with 21 points after narrowly beating the Eagles Volleyball Club from Wakkerstroom.

The top three teams in each league head to Mbombela on the weekend of 2 December to play against sides from the other two districts.

The Mpumalanga volleyball team, the Buffaloes, will be selected during that weekend.
