Mafia FC fly flag high in SAB Soccer League in Gert Sibande District

The SAB Soccer League took place with teams from all over the Gert Sibande District battling for three points to move up the log in stadiums around the district.

Ermelo teams did not fare well, as most played away from home.

Only VOC United FC and Mafia FC registered maximum points after the weekend to move up the table.

The VOC team put two goals past a Breyten United FC team that had no response.

The local team emerged the victors of the match, with the referee blowing the final whistle with the score showing 2-0.

Mafia FC flew the local flag high with a resounding win over Stone Breakers FC. They thrashed the Breakers with the ball kissing the back of the net five times in response to Breakers’ two goals. That match ended on 5-2.

The rest of the local sides were defeated. Ermelo United were beatedn 1-0 by XI Experience.

Suncity’s City Gunners also failed to make an impact on the log, going down 1-0 against the Flymingo FC side.

In other matches Aramburg FC that have been languishing at the bottom of the table for most of the season, registered their first win after defeating Flying Stars FC 2-0. That win meant they relinquish the last spot on the table as they move up one place.

Leaders Somhlolo FC continued their winning streak and stayed at the top after beating PR Barcelona FC 3-2, while Breyten Home Sweepers locked horns with Shooters FC. That match ended 3-1 in favour of the Breyten side.

It is crunch time in the SAB Soccer League as we enter the last leg of the season with teams vying for the top four places.

More matches are scheduled to take place over the weekend at the various stadiums in the district.
