Local teams fair badly in week 24 of SAB Soccer League

It was horrible week for the locals as only one team, Ermelo United FC, registered a win.

Week 24 of the SAB Soccer League took place at the weekend with most local teams playing away from home at the various stadiums around the Gert Sibande District.

It was terrible week for the local teams as only one team, Ermelo United FC, registered a win.

They took on a Stone Breakers FC team at the Chrissiesmeer Open Ground, who were looking to move out of the relegation zone.

The locals, however, were too strong and defeated the Stone Breakers 4 – 2, putting four goals past the keeper.

Mafia FC lost to Fylmingo United FC in a tight encounter that was only separated by one goal.

They lost the match 3 – 2.

Breyten United lost their match to Comet Riders FC 1 – 0.

The Msukaligwa derby between Breyten Home Sweepers FC and VOC United FC took place at the KwaZanele Stadium in Breyten.

The home team took full advantage, thrashing the Ermelo team 3 – 0.

Suncity’s City Gunners FC walked away with a point after drawing their match against Manzana FC, in what was a goalless affair at the Section C Sports Ground in Badplaas.

P.R Barcelona FC rounded off the weekend matches, claiming a 2 – 1 victory over the Aveng Young Stars FC team.

Flymingo’s win over Mafia takes them to the top of the log on 48 points.

However, they are only separated by goal difference with Somhlolo FC,who were victors in a five-goal thriller against XI Experience FC in Lothair.

Breyten Home Sweepers is not far behind in third place on 46 points.

VOC is the highest local team on the table, occupying fourth place on 44 points.

Mafia is in 11th position on 27 points.

Ermelo United is sniffing at their heels in 12th position, the two teams are only separated by goal difference.

City Gunners rounds off the local teams, occupying the 15th spot on 22 points.

Aramburg FC is still at the bottom of the log on 10 points, having not registered any win in the last five matches.

Another round of matches will kick off at various stadiums around the district over the weekend, with the locals looking to bounce back.
