SAB Soccer League teams do battle on the pitch

Teams from Ermelo ventured into unfamiliar territory as they played away-games with only one team, Mafia FC playing at home.

The SAB Soccer League resumed at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium over the weekend after the festive break.

Mafia FC did battle with Umkhondo Municipality’s PR Barcelona FC and caught them unawares as the local team drew first blood with an opening minute free kick goal that left the goalkeeper stranded at his goal post.

However, the home team held their own and triumphed with a 3 – 2 victory.

It was goals galore as VOC United drew 3 – 3 against Flymingos FC.

The top three on the log standings after the weekend are high flyers Somhlolo FC with 29 points, while Flymingo United follows with 28 points.

P.R Barcelona FC is just a point behind on 27 points.

On the other side of the log table, Flying Stars FC is in 16th place with 11 points, followed closely by local team, City Gunners who has 10 points.

Aramburg FC is the tail-enders on 10 points.

The two teams are only separated by goal difference.

The league continues this coming weekend with all teams fighting for the top spot and the playoffs in May.
