Vivian Whatley elected chairman of SADPA

Vivian has been elected as chairman of the South African Defensive Pistol Association (SADPA), a position that brings with it huge responsibilities.

The Ermelo Defensive Pistol Club(EDPC) has announced that CEO and chairman, Vivian Whatley has been elected as chairman of the South African Defensive Pistol Association (SADPA), a position that brings with it huge responsibilities.

In addition, Vivian has also been appointed as director of SADPA matches and competitions.

Vivian, who holds PhD and MBA degrees, has been shooting competitively for SADPA/IDPA for the last four years and is currently classified as Expert in all divisions of the sport.

He is also a level 4 Safety Officer.

Under Vivian’s leadership and ably supported by club members, the Vlakfontein shooting range near Ermelo has been approved by the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) and has been afforded the honour of hosting the South African National Defensive Pistol Shooting championships due to take place in October this year.

Hundreds of competitors from all over the country and further afield are expected to converge on Ermelo during that time.

“EDPC is extremely proud have been given this opportunity as only shooting ranges that meet the highest standards regarding facilities and safety are deemed capable of hosting an event of this magnitude,” said Vivian.
