EDPC shooters improve gradings

Classification is determined by the fastest time set, coupled with the least amount of penalty points incurred by competitors in a three-stage match.

Ermelo Defensive Pistol Club (EDPC) hosted its first competition of the year at the Vlakfontein Shooting Range on Saturday.

33 competitors including six new members took part in this classifier shoot.

Classifier shoots are held twice a year to determine the rankings (classification) of all International DefensivePistol Association (IDPA) shooters across the globe.

Classification is determined by the fastest time set, coupled with the least amount of penalty points incurred by competitors in a three-stage match. The classifications are Master, Expert, Sharpshooter, Marksman and Novice.

Two of EDPC’s top shooters, John Whatley and Bester Maree, both qualified as Masters in their respective divisions.

The following competitors all improved their previous classifications: Vivian Whatley (Expert), Cheryl Geldenhuys (Marksman), Paul van Niekerk (Sharpshooter), Marius van Staden (Marksman), Ernst Janse van Rensburg (Sharpshooter), Heinrich Janse Van Rensburg (Marksman), Juan van der Westhuizen (Marksman), Pieter Randell (Marksman), Lourens de Jager (Marksman), Stoffel van der Merwe (Marksman) and Christo Botha (Sharpshooter).

EDPC also welcomed new members Luche Geldenhuys, Pieter Steyn, Pannie Marais, André Steyn, Dewald Liebenberg and Rethea Janse van Rensburg.
