On cue for awards

A number of top Cue Sport enthusiasts from Ermelo received awards at the annual Cue Sports Awards ceremony held in Secunda on Saturday, 21 November.

A number of top Cue Sport enthusiasts from Ermelo received awards at the annual Cue Sports Awards ceremony held in Secunda on Saturday, 21 November.

Charles Wahlstrand was awarded the Msukaligwa best player of the year for Black Ball as well as League runner up for Black Ball and achieved the most breaks and finishes for Black Ball.

He is also a member of the Sleepers Rest Vipers that won the 8-Ball Puma League, the Ibonson Cup winner in Snooker, the Mpumalanga Premiere League runner up for 8-Ball, the Mpumalanga Puma A-League top performer for 8-Ball, and a member of the Mpumalanga open A-Team for 8-Ball, Charles achieved a third place for 8-Ball mixed doubles, was the 8-Ball doubles runner up and was a member of the Cue Sports Team of the Year.

He also received special awards for 15 years’ service, and for being a member of the Ibonson Snooker team.

Veronica Wahlstrand was a member of the ladies Black Ball team that will represent Mpumalanga at the SA championships next year and was a member of the 2015 ladies 8-Ball team that participated in the SA championships as well as a member of the Sleepers Rest Vipers that won the 8-Ball Puma League.

Veronica was also a member of the inter-provincial A-team that beat three other provinces and she received a special award for outstanding dedication in Cue Sports. She was also awarded the title of Cue Sports Woman Player of the year.

Chris van Wyk was voted Msukaligwa best up-and-coming player of the year in Black Ball and Msukaligwa top performer in Black Ball. he was also the top performer in 8-Ball first division achieved the most breaks and finishes for the 8-Ball Vets Premiere League and top performer in the 8-Ball Vet Premiere League. Chris was also a member of the SA Vets team and member of the SA Black Ball team.

Cheyanne van Wyk is a member of the ladies 8-Ball team that will be representing Mpumalanga at the SA championships in 2016, and was a member of the 2015 ladies 8-Ball team that participated in the SA championships as well as a member part of the inter-provincial A-team and a member of the Sleepers Rest Vipers that won the 8-Ball Puma League.

Sylvia Pieterse received an award as winner of the mixed doubles 8-Ball Mpumalanga Championships and was also a member of the Sleepers Rest Vipers that won the 8-Ball Puma League and is a member of the 2016 Mpumalanga A-team.

She also managed and was a member of the Mpumalanga A-team this year and a member of the inter-provincial A-team. Sylvia also received a special award for outstanding dedication to the sport.

Elsie Engelbrecht received awards for winning the 8-Ball Plate event at the 2015 SA’s and for being a member of the ladies B-league for 2015 and 2016. Tinus Venter received a special award for 15 years’ service and for being president of Mpumalanga 8-Ball Pool. He was also manager of the Mpumalanga Masters team.

Jonathan Stanton received an award as the the 8-Ball Open B-team referee, while Willie Jooste received a special award for 15 years service and was member of the 2015 Masters team.

Polla Boshoff also received an award as member of the 2015 Masters team.

Leon Pieterse and Deon van Zyl received awards as members of the 2015 open B-team.

Percy Kubeka and Sifiso Nkosi received awards as members of the Sleepers Rest Vipers that won the 8-Ball Puma League.
