Their friendship chemistry spilled over to their work and on to being crowned the new National chess champions.
Zanele Sibiya and Lungelo Simelane recently represented Mpumalanga province in the National Public Servants Sports and Cultural Events held in East London. After a series of matches squaring off with stiff opponents, the duo emerged victorious thereby being the first to win a national competition for the province.
The pair started playing chess together and participating in competitions last year.
Their wish is to teach others about the game of chess and see more children taking part in it.
