Sasol wins latest match

Sasol Secunda Cricket Club wins two matches in new season.

SECUNDA – Sasol Secunda Cricket Club recently kicked off their season and won their first match against Middelburg 1 Cricket Club on 12 October.

Sasol won the toss and decided to bat first and they had 245 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs.

The best batsmen were Dylan Niemand with 94 runs and Neil Salzmann with 85 runs.

Middelburg 1 got 202 runs for 10 wickets in 40 overs.

The best bowlers were Jacques Groenewald with 9.4 overs, no maidens and six wickets for 48 runs and Ignus Koekemoer with four overs, no maidens and two wickets for 22 runs.

Sasol played their next match against the Talisman Bulldogs on 19 October.

Talisman Bulldogs won the toss and decided to do field work first.

Sasol got 192 runs for 10 wickets in 46 overs before rain stopped the match.

According to the Mpumalanga Cricket Union, the Duckworth Lewis method was not used and though the Talisman Bulldogs could have lost the match, their run rate was better and caused the Talisman Bulldogs to win the match.

Sasol’s best batsmen were Dylan Niemand with 66 runs and Morne van Zyl with 50 runs.

The best bowler was Jacques Groenewald with five overs, one maiden and three wickets for 12 runs.

Sasol won their match against Connecto Cricket Club from eMalahleni (Witbank) with two wickets on 26 October.

Sasol won the toss and did field work first.

Connecto had 13 runs for 10 wickets in 40 overs.

Sasol’s best bowler was Jacques Groenewald with nine overs, no maidens and four wickets for 33 runs.

Morne van Zyl, Michael Hobkirk and Ignus Koekemoer each took two wickets.

Sasol’s best batsmen were Dylan Niemand with 66 runs, Morne van Zyl with 50 runs, Stuart Campbell with 79 runs not out, Michael Hobkrik with 27 runs and Jacques Groenewald with 25 runs.

Sasol got 164 runs for eight wickets in 39 overs.

The Man of the Match for Sasol Secunda Cricket Club was Stuart Campbell.
