It is winter and I’m not a winter person at all.
I could never stand being cold and also do not like wearing layers and layers of clothing on top of each other.
This winter has been exceptionally cold for me up till now and I cannot believe my eyes when I see people. especially men, wearing shorts and short-sleeved shirts.
I am immediately cold on their behalf.
It gets harder and harder to get out of bed in the mornings and I feel very sorry for people who need to get up very early in the morning and start work before the sun has shown its face.
Some need to use public transport to get to work and need to get up even earlier.
The small children that have to go to school so early, some of them not even dressed according to the weather, really break my heart.
I feel so privileged when I can relax in a hot bath and dress in my snug pyjamas when I get home from work and then sit under my blanket and watch TV.
My thoughts then always go out to people less fortunate.
That there are people sleeping out on the streets with no walls and blankets to protect them against the cold is a reality and my heart goes out to them.
I know there are organisations that are really try to make a difference.
Let us take hands with them and try to have more people sleep warm at night or even just not feel the cold so badly during the day.
