To see or not to see / Sien of nie sien nie

Die nasionale uitsaaier (SABC) het besluit om beeldmateriaal van die vernietiging van veral staatseiendom nie te beeldsend nie. Ons het lesers se menings hieroor gevra.

The national broadcaster, (SABC) recently decided not to broadcast visuals depicting the destruction of state property and public institutions. We asked our readers what they thought about this  decision.

Innocent Zulu: I can’t agree with this. Why can’t we see things like this? They must show the good and the bad things.
Nicholas Shabangu: I don’t agree with this decision. We want to see what is really going on in our country.
Henni le Roux: Hulle wil negatiewe publisiteit verbloem. Die publiek het die reg om te weet wat werklik in die land aangaan.
Elize James: Dit het positiewe sowel as negatiewe kante. Mense is geneig om mekaar te na aap met sulke goed. Die publiek wil ook weet wat aangaan.
Om dit nie te beeldsend nie gaan die sinnelose vernietiging van eiendom nie noodwendig laat ophou nie.
