By the way – Those ‘missing’ moments

Being the kind of person that prefers to focus on the good points of people and able to see and write about the funny side of things, I find it difficult to put myself in a flippant frame of mind after the tragic incident that rocked our town last week.

Being the kind of person that prefers to focus on the good points of people and able to see and write about the funny side of things, I find it difficult to put myself in a flippant frame of mind after the tragic incident that rocked our town last week.

The loss of four young lives by suffocation in a freak accident that could have happened to anybody has left an indelible mark on my mind. I’m sure anybody with warm blood running through his or her body will feel the same way.

Thinking about it and how the unfortunate sequence of events led to the children being trapped in that small space leaves me with a sense of helplessness. If only.. if only what? I don’t know. It is not fitting for us to ask why this terrible tragedy happened. But nevertheless, it did happen.

All we can do now is to stand by and comfort the families of those young children and not apportion blame to anyone.

I believe everyone will come out stronger by standing together during this time of grief.

The Christmas season is fast approaching and is usually a time for reflection. We all seem to miss loved ones who have passed on much more at this time of the year.

Somehow amidst all the festivities and joyousness surrounding the true meaning of Christmas, we all tend to mark these missing moments by the first, second, third, tenth or twentieth Christmas without dear mom, dad, brother, sister, child or other relative since they passed away.

With this most recent tragedy in mind, let us think of these families who have lost their children and stand by them and all the other families that prepare to face the most difficult missing moment of all – that first Christmas without those special loved ones.
