Laerskool Chrissie learner shines in literacy competition

In the Breyten circuit competition, he achieved first place, a feat he repeated at the sub-district level, too.

CHRISSIESMEER – Hlelowakhe Mwale, a Grade 4 learner of Laerskool Chrissie, demonstrated his reading and comprehension skills at the Department of Education’s Literacy Competition held recently at Wesselton Primary.

Representing his circuit at the district level, Hlelowakhe secured an impressive third place finish.

The competition, which began at school level, required each learner to read an unfamiliar passage and then answer questions based on their reading. Hlelowakhe excelled in this challenge, winning at school level and advancing to circuit level.

In the Breyten circuit competition, he achieved first place, a feat he repeated at the sub-district level before moving on to the district level competition.

“He is a lively, young boy with a bright future. He performs academically well at school. We congratulate him and as Laerskool Chrissie, we are very proud of him,” said Laerskool Chrissie’s principal, Hester Doyer.
