Man sought by police to assist with investigation into 11-year-old’s murder

The investigators are adamant that Vusi Nkambule (27) might be able to assist the police in their investigations and urged him to contact the police.

HENDRINA – The police are investigating a murder case following an incident in which an 11-year-old girl was killed on a farm on August 25.

Colonel Donald Mdhluli, a provincial police spokesperson, said in a media release that the incident had taken place at about 19:30 and that the suspect is said to have fled the scene.

“The police are still in pursuit of the perpetrator. He allegedly also murdered another man in February this year. They had arrested him, but he was granted bail of R5 000,” Mdhluli said.

He said the 11-year-old girl’s mother had reported her missing to the police when she was unable to find her. She informed them that her sister’s friend might know more about the girl’s sudden disappearance, as she was last seen with him.

The police were dispatched to the farm, but the man was not at home and the police gained entrance to the shack.

“During the search, the police noticed blood stains and continued the search inside and around the shack.”

They discovered the naked body of the child, with stab wounds. The girl was certified dead on the scene by the medical personnel.

Preliminary investigations suggest the girl could have been raped by the suspect. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage and no one has been arrested so far.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, or send information via the My SAPS app.

The investigators are adamant that a certain Vusi Nkambule (27) might be able to assist the police in their investigations. Nkambule is urged to contact the police immediately. Anyone who knows his whereabouts should also alert the authorities.

The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General

Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, condemned the incident.

“We are very concerned about these incidents in which the lives of innocent children are cut short by heartless criminals, however, we promise not to rest until we find the perpetrator of this crime, ensuring he is brought to book,” he said.
