Father filled with fury and grief over son’s vandalised grave site

The father fenced the area around his son's grave and installed a gate to secure it.

ERMELO – A father recently made a shocking discovery when he visited his son’s grave next to the Hendrina road and saw the place had been vandalised.

According to Krish Ramguthy, he had fenced the area around his son’s grave and installed a gate to secure it.

“We wanted to give him a dignified gravesite and honour his life, so we decided to fence it in,” he said.

He told Highvelder he had opened a case of theft at the Ermelo Police Station.

Ramguthy offered a reward of R500 to anyone with information that could lead to the recovery of the stolen gate.

He said he had visited all the scrapyards in the hope to find it, but to no avail.

“I am a pensioner and do not have the funds to fix the site every time someone vandalises and steals there.”
