Housebreaking in Ermelo turns fatal

According to Captain Carla Prinsloo, cases for housebreaking and theft and murder have been opened.

A housebreaking took place about 03:35 on December 17, in Ermelo East.

The owner of the house claims he was sleeping when his wife woke him up and said she heard a noise in the yard.

The homeowner looked through the window and initially only saw two men, who was unknown to him.

He took his firearm and allegedly fired a warning shot.

According to the homeowner, one of the suspects then shot at him.

The homeowner claims he fired several shots in the direction of the suspects.

One suspect fell and then he saw two others run away.

The unidentified person who was shot, died on the scene.

A remote control for a television was found in the deceased’s possession and the owners’ television was removed from where it was mounted on the wall.

A case of housebreaking and theft as well as a case of murder has been opened.
