ERMELO – Colonel Caiphus Sdumo Ngcobo was celebrated last week for his 37 years of service to the SAPS.

He joined the force in 1987 as a very young man.

“But before you know, 20 years have passed. But I enjoyed being a policeman,” he said.

He says everyone in the force is ‘normal people’, just like the members of the community, but with the mindset that nothing is impossible, they change the community by working together.

Ngcobo is loved by his colleagues. He is known for his positive and caring attitude.

His attitude to sustain excellence, doing his part and serving the community are all relevant to his farewell. Ngcobo retired with all his cases up to date.

The acting district commissioner thanked Ngcobo with the following message: “Colonel, your hard work has been noticed. You were in confrontation with crime and never rested until you resolved it. People of your caliber are needed in this organisation. We thank God for your life. May He continue to bless you with divine health and enlarge your territory. Thank you once again for contributing positively to the performance of the station.”

“It is so sad to leave you guys while things are happening. It was so nice working with the police,” said Ngcobo.
