Mpumalanga West win trips championship

The competition witnessed intense games played at the highest level, showcasing the passion and dedication of the participating teams.

The Mpumalanga West Lawn Bowls Trips Championships was held at the Ermelo Lawn Bowls Club on October 7 and 8.

The first four teams emerged victorious and earned the privilege to represent in the forthcoming competition against Lowveld, scheduled November four.

Men’s category:
• First: Witbank Bowls Club – Stephen Price
• Second: Groblersdal – Wors Naudé
• Third: Ermelo – Vincent Sonnekus
• Fourth: Ermelo – Gerrie Oosthuizen

Women’s category:
• First: Middelburg Stadium – Louise Steen
• Second: Ermelo – Gerda Swanepoel
• Third: Witbank Bowls Club – Marnel Price
• Fourth: Middelburg Stadium – Leonie Cloete.

The club is also eager to invite the public to the EG Church Lawn Bowls Tournament, scheduled for October 28 at the Ermelo Lawn Bowls Club.

The event promises a day filled with exciting games, friendly competition and prizes.

Registration will kick off between 07:45 and 08:20, ensuring a smooth start to the day’s festivities.

Teams that want to join will need to pay an entrance fee of R800 per team.

This fee grants them the opportunity to participate in the tournament and stand a chance to win prizes.

The format of play for this tournament is any four combinations, offering teams the flexibility to devise creative strategies and collaborate effectively on the greens.

Each team will engage in four games, each consisting of 12 ends, providing ample opportunities to showcase their skills and determination.

Adding to the excitement are two special games – the Spider Game and the Corner to Corner Game. Additionally, during the lunch break, a sheep will be up for auction.

The top-performing teams will receive the following prizes:
• First: R4 000
• Second: R3 000
• Third: R2 000
• Fourth: R1 000.
