ERMELO – A homeless young man was found dead on the corner of Jan van Riebeeck and Naudé streets on May 12.

According to Jeanna Motsamai, a local social worker at the CMR, the man, Nathi Khalishwayo, was a very intelligent, kind young man.

“We know he was the type of person who travelled and stayed alone, as he was mentally challenged,” Motsamai said.

She said they always saw him laughing and appreciated his good manners.

Motsamai and one of her collegues gave him food and blankets every night.

He returned the blankets to them in the mornings for safekeeping.

“Every night we would find him waiting on us, and he would say, good night, we love you.”

He loved to sing and rap.

Motsanai said Khalishwayo was always singing when he was happy.

According to Captain Carla Prinsloo, the Ermelo SAPS’s spokesperson, the police are investigating an inquest.
