Carolina court denies bail for suspects in brutal murder case

CAROLINA – Three suspects charged in connection with the brutal murder of Sabelo Khumalo (23) reappeared in the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, seeking bail.

The suspects had been arrested by the police in Silobela and now face a critical legal battle as they await their fate in the courtroom.

Bail was denied and the case was postponed to July 17.

According to Colonel Donald Mdhluli, a provincial police spokesperson, the murder took place at a tavern in the area.

Kwanele Khumalo (21), Khulekani Sibiya (21) and Siyabonga Nkosi (22) were arrested on May 17, after the SAPS conducted their investigation.

They first appeared in court on May 19.

The case was postponed to May 29, and they were remanded in custody.
