Man pleads guilty in Carolina Magistrate’s Court for dealing in marijuana

Dlamini appeared in the Carolina Magistrate's Court on March 9 and pleaded guilty.

CAROLINA – Reuben Elisha Dlamini, a 36-year-old man from eSwatini, was found guilty of dealing in dagga by the Carolina Magistrate’s Court and was sentenced to five years’ direct imprisonment with an option of a R10 000 fine.

Police members of the Ermelo K9 Unit had received information about a grey Mercedes-Benz carrying dagga from eManzana to Carolina. The vehicle was stopped at the Carolina railway line.

“The driver was approached and the police searched the vehicle and found a black plastic bag stashed with marijuana,” Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a provincial police spokesperson, said.

The dagga weighed about 6.7kg and had an estimated street value of about R15 000.

The suspect was immediately arrested and charged for dealing in drugs.

Dlamini appeared in the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on March 9 and pleaded guilty.
